Training Grounded in Real-World Experience

For students who are serious about performing, there is tremendous value in learning from someone who has spent a career doing it. I bring three decades of professional experience into the studio, helping students bridge the gap between learning the craft and putting it into practice.

Choosing a voice teacher or performance coach is an important decision. Technique is essential, but so is knowing how to apply it in auditions, rehearsals, and performance. With more than 30 years as a professional singing actor, I bring real-world experience to every lesson, supported by formal training that includes a BFA in Music Theatre and Performance Certificate in Classical Voice from Shenandoah Conservatory and a Master of Music in Performance from the University of Florida. I help students make strong choices, tell compelling stories, navigate auditions, and grow into confident, individual performers.

I believe that:

Technique serves storytelling.

 Preparation reduces anxiety.

Kindness and excellence coexist.

Auditions are learned, not innate.

A student’s individuality matters more than perfection.

I offer one-on-one and small-group instruction in singing and acting technique, audition preparation, and performance coaching for students of all ages and experience levels. Lessons are available in person at my home studio in Gainesville, Florida, or virtually via Zoom or FaceTime. My teaching philosophy combines healthy, science-based vocal technique with acting, musicianship, repertoire development, and practical performance skills in a supportive environment where students can take risks, build confidence, and discover what makes them distinctive.

In the studio, students can expect to:

~ Expand vocal range, endurance, and confidence

~ Build repertoire that complements vocal range, personality, strengths, and casting type

~ Learn to act through song, connecting vocal choices to character, intention, and storytelling

~ Develop a healthy, science-based vocal technique that applies across musical styles and genres

~ Strengthen musicianship, including music reading and theory concepts specifically relevant to singers

~ Develop practical audition skills and learn to enter the room prepared, focused, and ready to communicate

~ Prepare for performances, auditions, callbacks, competitions, and college or professional theatre opportunities

~ Find audition and competition material that is age appropriate, stylistically suitable, and tailored to the individual performer
